Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp Skewers

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

There is nothing like eating the same foods over and over again without any excitement in your life. So tonight I decided to jazz it up a little bit instead of just looking at meat on my plate.

Tonight' s Menu: Chicken and Shrimp Skewers

Ingredients:

-Chicken (cut up in squares)
-Shrimp (Individual Medium size)
-Cut up Peppers (red, green, and yellow)
-Teriyaki Sauce (No sodium or low sodium)
-Skewer sticks

If you want to add a little more flavor or tang to it you can add pineapples. In place of the teriyaki sauce you can use a salt free Marinade from Mrs. Dash.

Method:

1. I first cleaned and cut up the chicken and then placed in a bowl.
2. Pour teriyaki sauce in bowl and let chicken marinate in fridge for about two hours. (You want to give it enough time for flavor to really soak in.
3. Clean all shrimp and place in another bowl alone.
4. Season shrimp with a salt free spice. (I use Mrs.Dash)
5. Cut up all Peppers into small pieces

Okay I think we all know what to do next. Place a piece of chicken, shrimp, and pepper into a pattern on your skewers. You can stack them as full as you want to. If you used pineapples, you can place those on as well. Once you are finished you can cook these on a grill, George Foreman, or in the oven.

This is just a great way to jazz up your food instead of always looking at meat just sitting on your plate.
