ABOUT ME

This Girl Lifts is a community made up of many women from around the world who pride themselves in fitness and nutrition. It is a strong belief that women should not lift weights but we are here to prove that concept wrong.

WHO AM I?

They say a women can never have confidence unless she feels good from the inside out but for most of us the confidence starts on the outside.
As a military wife and student I pride myself in taking care of my body. In November of 2011 my husband left for deployment and I finally realized it was time for me to get my butt in gear and get this weight off. I started at 172-175 pounds and I am now in my 130's. Was the journey easy? No, not at all. I cried, I starved, and hurt like hell but I kept going to become the person that I am today. Now 40 pounds lighter and I am still going strong.

WHY THIS GIRL LIFTS?

Lifting is a hobby for some but it's a lifestyle for me. Not only do I lift but I supplement my training with healthy eating. With the support of my awesome husband I have been able to stay on track and not stray from my healthy lifestyle. I am not a certified personal trainer nor am I an expert but I am living proof that hard work and dedication pays off. You can do whatever you put your mind to.

MY PURPOSE

Why am I doing this site you ask? Throughout my journey to become the person that I am today when it comes to fitness and nutrition I have met some pretty harsh people. I have heard time and time again that women shouldn't lift because eventually they will look like guys which is a huge lie. I have encountered women in the same situation as myself who become totally different people once they win competitions or once they get the body they want. Where's the support? With This Girl Lifts, I wanted to provide a community where women can share their struggles with others who have been in their position before and not get ridiculed or torn down because of their struggle. I hope that everyone who decides to become a part of our community gets the guidance and support needed to further their journey.
